Celebrating Diversity In World Mental Health Week

Redcar and Cleveland Mind held a Town Centre Event in Redcar to celebrate Diversity in World Mental Health Week on Saturday 14th October 11am-3pm. It was an opportunity for the local mental health community organisation to launch their new diversity poster, which has been produced by service users.

A "hands on" art activity took place near the town clock. The activity appealed to people of all ages and abilities and emphasised the value and importance of people working creatively together. There was also free face painting, balloons and an information stall.

Director of Redcar and Cleveland Mind, Sharon Street, says, " We wanted this to be a fun occasion but we also have a serious message to get across. We want to raise awareness about the importance of valuing everyone and celebrating diversity. Feeling part of a community is important for everyone's mental health and we see the devastating effect on people and communities if individuals or groups are not valued."
